Case Study:

Taum Sauk Dam

TPS Built Plant That Supplied Core Materials for Dam Project

For this recent “world class” heavy civil dam renovation project, Turn-Key Processing Solutions designed and built the aggregate crushing and screening plant that supplied the core materials for the Taum Sauk Upper Reservoir Dam project. This consisted of approximately three (3) million cubic yards of RCC (roller compacted concrete), located in southeast Missouri. The plant was a completely redundant 1,400-ton-per-hour system designed to meet specific products, gradations and particle shape requirements. The raw material was a very high-strength trap rock, creating some unique challenges.

The Taum Sauk Upper Reservoir Dam received the U.S. Society on Dams’ 2010 “Excellence in the Constructed Project” award, and was a finalist for the 2011 “Outstanding Civil Engineering Award (OCEA)” of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
